Upcoming changes to the app creation flow
We are excited to introduce a streamlined app creation approach with major improvements to simplify your experience. Here’s what’s changing:
Changes in the app creation flow
After this release, all apps will be created exclusively in the production environment. When an app is first created, draft versions of it will automatically be generated in both the production and development environments. The development environment will now be dedicated solely to app building, providing a focused, clutter-free workspace.
Changes in user management
As a super admin, you can now map active users in the production environment to development or test environments as needed. However, adding users directly to the development environment will no longer be supported.
What this means for you
App sharing: App editing, sharing, and management will now be handled entirely within the production environment. Sharing directly from the development environment will no longer be supported.
Unified environment access: Though production and development environments remain distinct, they will function as one unit. To access the development environment, navigate to Profile settings > Environments in production. You will need to sign in to the production environment first to access the development environment.
Impact areas
This release will remove users who have been added to the development environment without being part of the production environment from the user management list. To reinstate their access, you must add them to the production environment again and map them to the development environment.
Following this release, draft apps that are still under development and have not yet been deployed will become orphaned and will not be accessible from production. To prevent this, deploy draft apps once to ensure copies of the apps are preserved in production during migration.
These changes are expected to roll out within the next week. We are confident they will provide a smoother, more secure app creation and management experience for all users.
