Upcoming changes to lists in Kissflow Apps

We are making significant improvements to how lists work within apps.

What are lists?

Lists are single-column datasets that populate fields like dropdowns, checklists, and multi-select dropdowns in your forms.

What’s new?

Currently, you can create a list only when using a compatible field (For example,  a dropdown or a checklist) in a form.

After this release:

  • You can create new lists directly from the left navigation panel in the app builder.

  • The new List section allows you to manage all the lists in your app. This means you can edit, rename, and delete lists exclusively from within the app builder.

  • You will still be able to create lists in forms as you do now.

What this means for you

  • Lists created outside the app builder will no longer be supported for use within apps. This means they will no longer appear in the list selection window in the app builder.

  • If any form in your app references lists from sources outside the app, such as a dataset, the lists may not work after this release.

  • Lists referenced in the apps that are already live and in the production environment will not be affected by this change.

We recommend reviewing the lists used in your app in the development environment and creating in-app copies for any that originate outside the app. Doing this will help prevent list-based form fields from breaking and ensure a smooth transition after the release.

This update is expected to be rolled out in June 2025.
