Coming soon: Grid layout style in Kissflow page builder
We are thrilled to announce the upcoming release of the new page building layout style, Grid, in Kissflow Apps. This enhancement introduces an easier and more visual approach to designing app interfaces aimed at improving usability, particularly for citizen developers.
At present, the page builder supports the Flex layout style, where you configure the layout and dimensions of components manually from the right-side Settings panel. While Flex is useful for highly complex designs, it can be overpowering for simple dashboards and quick builds, especially when resizing or styling components.
What does the Grid layout style offer?
The new Grid layout style serves as an alternative to Flex and provides a row-and-column-based design experience. Key highlights include:
Place widgets freely anywhere without constraints, supporting highly customized layouts.
Directly resize and rearrange components using the mouse, with precise control over component height and spacing from the properties pane.
Significantly more visual page building, providing an intuitive experience for users with minimal design expertise.
These capabilities enable faster page development with virtually no learning curve.
Whatβs changing?
Along with this introduction, we will remove the existing Column components section from the page builder.
The column components serve as containers for organizing other components. After careful consideration, we're removing this feature due to its limited usage and the grid layout style's similar functionality while offering improved ease of use.
However, existing pages that currently use the Column components will continue to function without any issues. This change only applies to the creation of new pages going forward.
Availability and support
Both Flex and Grid layout styles will be available in the Page builder. You will have the flexibility to choose the layout style that best aligns with your design requirements and level of technical comfort.
The Grid layout style is currently in the making and will be rolled out in the second week of June. If you have any questions, please feel free to comment below or contact our customer support.
