Coming soon: New enhancements to remote lookup fields in Kissflow Forms

We're excited to announce a powerful set of upcoming enhancements to the Remote lookup field. Now, anyone can configure APIs directly in the form builder without needing technical expertise. We’ve also streamlined the experience by eliminating manual steps like data type selection.

The revamped remote lookup field will be faster, simpler, and more reliable than ever before.

What’s new?

Test your configuration instantly

Forget the save and pray method. Our new Validate API feature lets you fire a live test call to your endpoint right from the Field properties panel.

• Instant feedback: Immediately see if your request was a Success (for example, 200 OK) or if it failed, helping you debug headers, body, or URL issues on the spot.

• View live response: After a successful test, you can view the full API response, including the request header and body. 

Simulate with sample response

If you already know your API's response structure or don't want to run a live test, you can paste in sample response directly. The AI path finder will use this mock data as if it were a real API response, allowing you to set up JSON or XML paths and configure your field's behavior without an active connection.

AI-powered JSON/XML path finder

Manually writing JSON paths like $[0].PostOffice[0].Name can be time-consuming and error-prone. Our new AI path finder does the heavy lifting for you.

• Visual selection: After you test your API, the finder will display the API response. You can select the required path directly from the response tree.

• Automatic path generation: Simply prompt AI by describing the data you need (for example, Get the post office name). AI will analyze the response, and automatically generate the correct JSON/XML path.

In addition to finding the path, AI will detect the kind of data you’re working with, like Text, JSON, or XML, as well. 

Availability and release

These new capabilities, available for users of all plans, will dramatically reduce the setup time. You can confidently connect API sources across all Process, Board, and Dataform forms in Kissflow Platform and Apps.

This enhancement is in the final stages of development and is expected to go live in the second week of December. Get ready to build and debug your remote lookup configurations in record time with these new tools!
