Streamlined application development and user management
We are excited to announce recent updates designed to enhance application development and user management, providing a more seamless and secure user experience.
Unified application development process
The new app creation process addresses a key limitation we had earlier with respect to flows outside of the apps.
Previously, apps created in the development environment could not access other flows like processes, boards, and master datasets that were present in the production environment. Due to this, app developers were unable to reference the data from other flows inside apps.
Following this update, apps will be created directly in the production environment, allowing direct access to other flows present in production. To do so, app developers will need access to both the production and development environments.
Once created, a copy of the app will automatically be generated in the development environment for further building and testing. This change ensures smoother integration with other flows and helps maintain a streamlined workflow across environments.
Enhanced user management
Super administrators can map active users in the production environment to the development or testing environments as required. Please note that adding users directly to the development environment has been discontinued.
Key changes
Application sharing: Application sharing, editing, and management exclusively occur within the production environment.
Unified access: To access the development environment, users must navigate to Profile settings > Environments within the production environment. It is mandatory to sign into the production environment first.
What does this mean for developers?
Developers designated solely for the development environment will be removed from the user management list. Adding them to the production environment and mapping them to the development environment is necessary to reinstate access. Additionally, draft applications that still need to be deployed will now be visible solely in the production environment. Super administrators may share these drafts with developers as needed.
These changes are implemented to make the application development and management processes more efficient and streamlined. Try out the new app creation method and let us know your thoughts! Check out the documentation to learn more.
