Creating and using board views in apps

Overview

Board views ensure alignment within your team by allowing you to focus on specific sets of data and share them effectively with your team members.

Let’s say you have a Product release board where one team is focused on feature development while another handles feature testing. With board views, each team can create a filtered view that displays only the relevant items.

As an app admin or a developer, you can create and save board views in kanban, list, matrix, and timeline layouts and share them with the desired app roles. This makes it easier to work collaboratively with better context.

Creating views

To create a new view,

  • Click Views > + New view.

  • Provide a view name and select the desired layout for your view.

  • Sort based on fields.
  • Select the fields you want to display on the items under the LAYOUT FIELDS section. Certain system fields cannot be removed as they are required to remain visible.
  • Add simple and advanced filter conditions under the FILTER section to track specific items on your unique views.

Note:

You cannot access the items while configuring the view.

Click the Save button at the top after you’re done with the configuration.

Sharing views

You can share a view with different roles in your app and assign them the following unique access permissions:

  • Read-only - Users will be able to view the items, but cannot edit them.
  • Edit - Users will be able to create, view, and update items.

To share a view,

  1. Click the Share button ( ) at the top right corner.

  2. Click + Assign roles and enter the app roles to which you want to give access and click Confirm.
